About Us<\/code><\/mark><\/strong>
Founded in 2019, Sankwia River Lodge (SRL) is a premier eco-friendly and family-friendly tourist destination nestled in the heart of The Gambia, approximately 185 km from the capital, Banjul. Our lodge is uniquely situated at the historic Sankwia River Crossing Point, a once-thriving river transportation and trading spot. This site gained national significance around the 1960 when members of the British Royal Family disembarked there before traveling to Mansakonko.
After decades of decline, a local visionary took the initiative to revitalize this historic location, transforming it into a thriving eco-tourism destination.
Just 7 km from the main Trans-Gambia Highway, the Lodge serves as a gateway to both local and sub-regional tourist attractions, including destinations in Senegal.
The Lodge is becoming a hotspot for tourists who seek adventures, love nature, birdwatching, outdoor exploration, and cultural experience. It offers a meaningful and unforgettable stay.<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n
